4-year-old accidentally shoots, kills woman on Saturday

While they were in there the child came in and retrieved a handgun from the top of the bed. The victim just happened to walk in the bedroom at the time, Helm said. The toddler discharged the weapon accidentally, striking Fanning. The handgun was one of Daniels personal firearms.

Wilson EMA responded and tried to resuscitate her but failed, Helm said, adding that Fannings body was then taken to the Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

Helm said that the TBIs initial investigation is complete, but that the case is still open. No charges have been made at this time.
