LEBANON -- Funeral services for Mr. Alfred N. Carman Sr., were held 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, with Dr. Larry Locke officiating.
Interment will follow at the Hartsville Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Carman, age 80 of Lebanon, passed away Friday, Apr. 30, 2010, at the Quality Care Nursing Home in Lebanon.
Born October 8, 1929, in Trousdale County, he was the son of the late Lillard Thompson Carman and Maude Frances Armstrong Carman. Mr. Carman served in the United States Navy and was a member of the College Hills Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.
A Lebanon businessman, he founded Al’s Foodland in 1968. He was a former president of the American Beefalo Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George & Billy Carman.
Survived by wife of nearly 60 years Dora Nunley Carman; children Merilyn (Ken) Couch of Knoxville; Alfred N. (Pat) Carman Jr. of Nashville; and Robin Lynn Edwards of Lebanon; brother James (Joyce) Carman of Hartsville.
Also surviving are grandchildren Kelley (Greg) Sohn, Jennifer (Bryant) Powell, Kasey Couch, Jonathan (Lila) Carman, Jeffrey (Kellye) Carman, Kim (Zach) Watson, Kristen (Branson) Stevens, and Merilyn (Daniel) Ater; great grandchildren Krystal Robbins, Lilly Carman, Mamie Carman, Hollis Watson, Bailee Powell, Montana Powell, Ryker Ater and Rafe Ater.
Pallbearers: Bryant Powell, Greg Sohn, Daniel Ater, Jonathan Carman, Jeffrey Carman and David Mayberry.
