Cumberland sweeps TSC tournament

MILLINGTON -- Zack Diekman slugged a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday night as Cumberland's baseball team won the TranSouth Conference tournament -- going a perfect 5-0 at USA Stadium.

With a berth in next week's Region XI tournament already in hand thanks to a 6-5 victory over Martin Methodist in the semifinals, Coach Woody Hunt's team needed extra innings to put away Trevecca Nazarene 7-5.

Diekman ripped the first pitch he saw over the wall in dead leftfield for his eighth home run of the season to make a winner of reliever Andrew Ward (1-1). Ward worked two innings, allowing two hits and one run.
