Obituaries

Bessie Lee Owen, 84

WATERTOWN – Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mrs. Owen, 84, of Watertown.

A native of Wilson County and a member of the Smithfork Baptist Church, she died July 14, 2009 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was the daughter of the late George O. and Clemmie Bly Dodd and a homemaker.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral. Services will be conducted by Rev. Eltis Brown and Rev. Gary Miller. Burial will follow at the Jones Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include: children Virginia Marie (Wesley) Hamlet of Lebanon, Jimmy Edmond (Dianne) Owen and Billy Wayne Owen – all of Watertown and Judy Ellen (Larry) Parker of Murfreesboro.

Also surviving are grandchildren Steve Hamlet, Angie Barnes, Kim (Chris) Craighead, Ellen Warden, Kristy (Michael) Holbrook, Jim (Kimberly) Owen, Dustin Parker and Shane (Janet) Parker; seven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers Kenneth (Pauline) Dodd of Smithville, Junior (Frances) Dodd of Alexandria and Robert (Julia) Dodd of Lebanon along with sister-in-law Clara Dodd of Watertown as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owen is preceded in death by husband Robert Richard Owen, granddaughter Anita Christine Owen and brother Joe Dodd.

Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Lou Tomlinson, 83

LEBANON – Funeral services have been scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the Sellars Funeral Home on the Baddour Parkway for Mrs. Tomlinson, 83, of Lebanon. A member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church, she passed away on July 14, 2009.

The family will be receiving friends Friday from 1 p.m. until the funeral. Services will be conducted by Brother Gordon Lee. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in the Norene Community.

Survivors include children William "Bill" (Shirlene) Tomlinson, Richard Tomlinson, and Sue (Wayne) Carmack.

Also surviving are grandchildren Candie (Michael) Randolph, Jennifer Taylor, Joey Carmack, Chasity Merdith, Bill (Gail) Tomlinson Jr. and Crystal Kennedy; great-grandchildren Malia Randolph, Maranda Taylor, Alex Taylor, Megan Keith, Brandon Tomlinson, Lexie Tomlinson, Dillion Tomlinson, Amber Merdith, Nathan Reeves, Leah Reeves, Melanie Hackney, Bailey (Jonathan) Gilliland and Charlie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers include: Cody Gann, Donnie Ford, Jimmy Flatt, Johnny Gulley, Anthony Gulley and Gayle Cripps.

She is preceded in death by husband Zirl Tomlinson, brothers Clifford Thompson and Tilford Thompson, along with parents Herbert and Carrie Thompson.

Sellars Funeral Home, 313 W. Baddour Pkwy, is in charge of arrangements.

Deo Karamchan Narine, 63

LEBANON – Funeral services have been scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at the Sellars Funeral Home on the Baddour Parkway for Mr. Narine, 63, of Lebanon. He died July 16, 2009.

The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home Saturday from 1 p.m. until service.

Survivors include wife of 40 years Joyce Singh Narine; daughter Babita (Russ) Trego; grandchildren: Misty Trego, Marianna Trego, Marlayna Trego, Russell Wesley Trego, Russell Trego IV and Ricky Trego.

Also surviving are siblings: Sahadeo (Dhanmatee) Narine, Pulmatee Narine Partap, Ramesha Narine, Martin (Shantie) Narine, Kathleen (Keith) Maharaj, and John (Baby) Narine; special family member: Sheila Mangalsingh; and special friends: Margaret and Ralph Gooding.

He is preceded in death by parents Ramnarine and Melanie Fulchan Rattan, brother Joseph Narine.

Donald Raymond Hall, 45

NASHVILLE – Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at the Spring Hill Funeral Home for Mr. Hall, 45, of Nashville. He died July 14, 2009.

The family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by Brother Mike Bumbalough with burial at the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include: parents Gordon and Martha Hall, children Christopher Matthew Hall and Sarah Ashley Hall — both of Lebanon; sister Janet (Bruce) Orndorff as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by brothers Randal W. Hall and Steven W. Hall.

Marlene Davis Riggs, 55

SMYRNA – Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at Smyrna’s Woodfin Chapel for Mrs. Riggs, 55, of LaVergne.

A member of the Baptist church, she was born July 7, 1954 in Franklin and died Monday, July 13, 2009 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Visitation with the family will be 5-8 pm Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Services will be conducted by Dr. Ross Maroney. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.

She is survived by son Tyler Riggs and daughter Kendall Riggs – both of LaVergne; siblings Donnie Davis of Raleigh, NC; Steve Davis of Nashville, GA; Judy Thomas Davis of Watertown and Sherrie (Bitsy) Arthur of Lebanon; mother Martha Pewitt McMillen of Lebanon and special friend Paul Johnson of LaVergne.

Mrs. Riggs was preceded in death by her father George Davis and her husband Ron Riggs.

Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, is in charge of arrangements.

Theodore J. Trayer, 62

LEBANON — Theodore Trayer passed away on July 14, 2009 at the age of 62. No services scheduled at this time.

Survivors include children: Elaine (Stephen) Barry, Tammy (Michael) Del Piano and Tina Olson (and family); grandchildren Michael Del Piano, Nicole Del Piano, and Ryan Del Piano; as well as best friend Dennis McWaherter.

He is preceded in death by parents Theodore and Blanche Davis Trayer.
