EAGLES WIN 20-17 IN OT
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Five turnovers and a fired-up Faulkner squad proved to be a deadly combination as Faulkner upset No. 16-ranked Cumberland 20-17 in overtime Saturday at the Cramton Bowl. The loss snapped a five-game Cumberland winning streak and gave the Eagles their first-ever victory over a ranked team.
Backup quarterback Christian Burnett was picked off in the end zone and Eagle freshman Thomas Price booted a 33-yard field goal for the difference maker.
Cumberland starter Curt Bureau was injured on the Bulldogs' final offensive play of regulation when the Dunlap native was slammed to the turf as he released the ball on a fourth-and-19 pass from the Faulkner 38. Bureau's helmet flew off when he was hit and his pass attempt sailed over the head of Zack Ducker.
