Wilson County’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.9 percent in March, a decrease of 0.6 percent from the February figure of 8.5.
Unemployment rates for all 95 counties were released Thursday, by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Tennessee’s unemployment rate for March was 9.5 percent, unchanged from February’s figure. The national unemployment rate was 8.8 percent, down 0.1 percent from February’s rate of 8.9 percent.
The department showed a labor force of 60,110 in Wilson County with 55,380 of those employed in March, leaving 4,730 unemployed.
The jobless rate for March 2010 stood at 9.3 percent, a change of 1.4 percent in a year’s time.
