Local Jersey Mike's Subs participates in "Make a Difference Day"

Lebanons Jersey Mikes Subs is one of 24 locations participating in the 2nd annual Make a Difference Day on Wednesday, March 28, donating 100 percent of its sales to benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt.

On Wednesday, March 28, anyone who purchases a sub meal at Jersey Mikes in Lebanon will be helping out the kids at the Childrens Hospital. This is the first time the local Jersey Mikes has participated in the initiative, which is in its second year.

The event caps of the Month of Giving campaign by Jersey Mikes locations in the Nashville area. Also, every Jersey Mikes location nationwide is holding a Make a Difference Day celebration to benefit 74 charities.

Last years initiative raised more than $600,000 for 66 local charities in the Nashville area and Jersey Mikes hopes to raise even more in 2012.

Jersey Mikes Subs is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is located at 1315 West Main Street, Suite E, in the old Bi Lo shopping center.

Salon helps raise money for cancer patient

Local business Pulse Hair Salon is taking part in a nationwide charity to raise money for the Spread the Love program, sponsored by Matrix Haircare, which will benefit a local cancer patient.

Through the Spread the Love program, Matrix is sponsoring six beauty school graduates who are traveling to all 50 states for six months to learn about the industry, meet salon owners and team up with local businesses for events in each community.

Here in Lebanon, two graduates, Todd Kane and Timmy Willy, will be in town today at Pulse Hair Salon located at 1221 South Hartmann Drive, Suite F. They will help the local stylists cut hair to raise money for a family dealing with the realities of cancer.

Store owner nabbed second time in synthetic drug bust

For the second time this month, authorities charged a local storeowner for continuing to sell illegal synthetic drugs, after the Lebanon Police Department arrested a subject who had allegedly purchased synthetic drugs at the store.

On Wednesday, March 21, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the LPD in conjunction with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, executed a second search warrant this month at the Discount Tobacco and Beer located at 617 N. Cumberland Street in Lebanon.

MJ downs Creek Wood in WCIT

BEARS DOWN CREEK WOOD 3-1
MT. JULIET -- After a day of rain delays, Mt. Juliet got back to the diamond and shut down Creek Wood, 3-1 Friday afternoonin the Wilson County Invitational.

Mason Barber took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, going 6.1 innings and striking out six, four in a row at one point.

Hunter Gilbert led the Bears at the plate with two RBI base hits. He picked up a RBI single in the bottom of the second, scoring Robby Amity, and a RBI double in the fourth, driving in courtesy runner Caleb Chowbay.

The other run came in the bottom of the third when Kyle Grace drove in Cody Carr with a RBI single.

Creek Wood got their only run on the top of the fourth on a walk and two errors by the Bears.

Creek Woods Aaron Lee broke up Barbers no-hitter to start the seventh. Conner Sugg came in to shut the door and pick up the save, his fourth of the season.

In Wednesday's play, Mt. Juliet picked up a 4-3 win over Clarksville, and a 3-0 win over White House.
