Jimmy R. Jewell, 98

LONGTIME LOCAL BUSINESSMAN
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at First United Methodist Church of Lebanon for Mr. James Rye Jimmy Jewell, Jr., 98, of Lebanon. A Navy Seabee during World War II and a longtime Wilson County businessman, Mr. Jewell died Aug. 14, 2013.

Born in Lebanon to the late H. Culley and Myrtle O. Jewell, he was a partner in Hankins, Byars, and Jewell Pontiac for a number of years and retired from Hankins and Jewell Oil Co. in 1979.

3 arrested in shooting incident

Lebanon Police have arrested three men in connection with a shooting that occurred around 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, on Toshiba Drive.

Chief Scott Bowen said in a news release that two of the residents were outside when three men, identified as Joshua Knight, 25; Lavon Knight, 26; and Marcus Baker, 22, all of Lebanon, reportedly got out of a silver car, fired numerous shots towards the residence and sped away.

Born in Lebanon to the late H. Culley and Myrtle O. Jewell, he was a partner in Hankins, Byars, and Jewell Pontiac for a number of years and retired from Hankins and Jewell Oil Co. in 1979. For recreation, Mr. Jewell loved fishing, and he and his wife Estelle traveled the United States in their recreation vehicles for more than 20 years.
