Robert Madison "Bob" Cross, 83

Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church for Mr. Cross, 83, of Lebanon. A retired manager with South Central Bell and a United States Army Veteran, Mr. Cross died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at his residence.

A member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and local "Junkologist", Mr. Cross was the son of the late Arthur & Frances Cross.

Woman LifeFlighted following single car crash

Lebanon Police are still investigating exactly what caused the driver of a 2003 Ford Expedition to veer off Highway 70Monday afternoon and crash into a tree.

Officer Wayne Howard said the female driver, of Mt. Juliet, was traveling eastbound near Horn Springs Road when for an unknown reason she ran off the road, striking a mailbox and traveling across a field for 200 yards before crashing into two trees.

Hall leaves CU for Lees-McRae

Cumberland cycling coach since 2005
BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Tim Hall has tendered his resignation as cycling coach at Cumberland University and has been named the new director of cycling and head cycling coach at Lees-McRae College.

"We spent a great deal of time looking for someone with the character, experience and credibility to elevate our cycling program to the level we all expect it to be," explained Director of Athletics Craig McPhail Monday.

"Our location and tradition are true drawing points to have us regarded as one of the best collegiate cycling programs in the country. With Tim, we have someone who can map out our future with great promise. I have watched his teams at Cumberland ride with great heart and talent. His professionalism and care for those young people were items that stuck with me over time."

Shoulders, Clark win at HP

ANNUAL MIXED SCRAMBLE
Josh Shoulders and Emily Clark held off a strong challenge from Greg and Rhonda Greer to wil the championship flight of the annual Man & Woman Scramble Saturday and Sunday at Lebanon's Hunters Point Golf Course.

Shoulders / Clark shot 65-64 in the 36-hole event for a two-day total of 129. Greer / Greer shot 66-64 to finish one stroke back at 130.

Matt Wood / Amy O'Connell finished third at 134 while Rick and Beverly Shoulders finished fourth at 135. Chris and Amy Austin and RichPuckett / Pam Puckett tied for fifth place with identical scores of 138.
