LPD arrests armed robber

Knife-weilding man robs market, hotel
LEBANON -- A man believed to be responsible for at least two local armed robberies is in police custody after knocking over Square One Express at 201 W. Main Street Sunday.

Larry W. Dunn, 36, of Lebanon,is presently lodged in the Wilson County Jail and charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery after he was arrested Sunday evening by the Lebanon Police Department following a traffic stop.

Dunn is suspected of having pulled a knife to rob the Square One Express. Officers arrived and obtained a description of the getaway vehicle. Detectives later were able to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle.

Square One Express armed robbery on Sunday

Lebanon Police responded on Sunday, Sept. 14 to an armed robbery at Square One Express at 201 West Main Street.

According to the clerk a white man entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money.

Police

Police arrived and were able to obtain information related to a suspect vehicle. Detectives later were able to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was driven by a 17 year old female juvenile. Police found Larry W. Dunn to be the passenger in the vehicle.

Dunn was questioned by detectives and confessed to the robbery at Square One Express. Dunn also confessed to a robbery that occurred on September 7th, 2013 at Executive Inn. Dunn has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery.

FCS golfer earns state berth

Commander just miss out on team spot
OLD HICKORY -- The Friendship Christian School's boys golf team finished fourth in Monday's Division II-A Regional Golf Tournament held at Old Hickory Country Club.

The Commanders scored 329 --- just five strokes away from the third place team and a possible trip to the state finals -- in this their first year in the Division II-A ranks.

The top three teams --- BGA 314, Knox-Webb 316 and FRA - 324 --- and the top three individuals not on a winning team move on to the State Tournament at Willowbrook Sept. 23 and 24.

Kid smokes 'em at Sherry's Run

Too small to ride some of the attractions at last months Wilson County Fair, size and age proved to be no barrier for Hope Ilias, 9, winner of the female division of the 10th annual Sherrys Run Saturday.

A fourth grader at Friendship Christian School, Ilias finished the 5K course in a time of 20:05, making her -- hands down -- the youngest winner in the history of the event.

Her mom, Tracy Burtnett, teaches high school Spanish at FCS and helps coach the Commander Cross-Country team.
