Baby dies in car accident

Wilson Emergency Management Agency responded to the scene along with law enforcement. WEMA personnel summoned LifeFlight helicopter which landed near the wreck site and transported the baby to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

McPherson said the baby died late that afternoon.

There were also two other children in the Pontiac, a 7-year-old and a 6-month-old, both boys. They were taken to University Medical Center by ambulance, however, they did not have serious injuries. In addition, Gonzalez, who was the mother of the 2-month-old, and the friend who was in the passenger seat, also were not injured seriously.

Adams, the driver of the pickup truck, was transported by WEMA to UMC with injuries although McPherson said she did not know the extent.

McPherson said it was believed that the 6-month-old was restrained because he was not seriously injured. She said the 7-year-old told authorities he could not remember if he wore a seatbelt.

She noted that no alcohol or drugs were believed to have played a part in the accident which remains under investigation. The names of the children were not available. Trooper Mike Tysinger was investigating the accident.

Funeral services for the infant boy were held Sunday afternoon, June 1 at the Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Burial was at the Eastern Gate Cemetery.

Survivors include: parents Amber Anderson Gonzalez and Carmelino Gutierrez Perez; sister Noelia Dillard; grandparents Teresa Anderson and Randy (Christie) Anderson -- all of Watertown; Margarita Perez Vasquez and Carmelino Gutierrez -- both of Mexico.

Hunter Funeral Home, Watertown, was in charge of arrangements.
