The junior scored from53, 8 and 18 in the first 12 minutes. He followed with touchdowns from the 13 and 63 during a six-minute span in the second quarter.
All told, it was a 12 attempt, 296-yard day with the five scores in one halfs work and he didnt step on the field after intermission.
Ive had all kinds of folks ask me how were going to stop Jalen Hurd, Mt. Juliet coach Roger Perry said Wednesday night. My standard response is something along the line of nobodys stopped him yet. So were going to try and slow him down a little bit. I dont think stopping this guy is a possibility.
Weve got to get him slowed down before he gets into the secondary. Otherwise, we wont be able to catch him.
Perry went on to say that he has seen several out-tanding tailbacks during his coaching career, but he couldnt recall one with Hurds skill set in a six-foot, two-inch frame.
If we dont play up to our potential in all phases of the game, we wont be able to keep up with them, Perry said. I think if we can play a complete game, well have a chance.
Mt. Juliet is coming off a 27-0 victory at LaVergne last week.
