MURFREESBORO -- Mt. Juliet's Lady Bears were denied a chance to play for a state title after a 55-46 loss to No. 1-ranked Blackman Friday morning in the Class AAA semifinals at MTSU's Murphy Center.

Mt. Juliet (30-2) led Blackman 20-19 at intermission, but saw the Lady Blaze come roaring back with a 16-8 third quarter effort.

Blackman defeated Ridgeway in Saturday's finals and finished 34-1 on the season.

Relentless pressure forced Mt. Juliet into 15 turnovers and a 20-of-49 (40.8%) shooting effort from the field.

Blackman connected on 17-of-19 from the free throw line while Mt. Juliet was just 3-of-8 at the line.

Blackman's Crystal Dangerfield led all scorers with 22 points. The 5-5 sophomore guard connected on eight of her 16 shots from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the line.

Meme Jackson added 14 and Alex Johnson 10 for the Blaze.

Mt. Juliet got 18 points from Ronjanae DeGray and 13 more from her twin sister Rae. Senior post Sally McCabe was limited to nine points.

The loss snapped Mt. Juliet's 25-game winning streak.
