LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, January 25 in the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Bro. Pharris, 70, of Lebanon.
Born in Cookeville to the late Charlie and Flossie Flatt Pharris, he passed away at his home Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 following an extended illness.
He was ordained into the ministry at West View Baptist Church in Cookeville and spent more than 40 years serving as a pastor.
He was student pastor at several churches in Cookeville and pastored Shellsford Baptist Church in McMinnville; First Baptist Church in Livingston; North Etowah Baptist Church, Etowah and Fairview Baptist Church in Lebanon.
During his ministry he served on many mission trips. After his retirement he served at Whittsett Chapel in Nashville, Riddleton Baptist Church in Carthage and as Director of Missions of the New Salem Association.
Services were conducted by Brother Jonas Taylor. Burial was at Cookeville’s Double Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife Carol Ballard Pharris; daughter Donna (Jim) Walls of Cookeville and son Chuck Pharris and his fiance’ Joice Gil of Chicago, IL.
Also surviving are beloved granddaughters Caroline and Callie Walls of Cookeville, brothers Bill (Jean) Pharris of Nashville and Bob (Carolyn) Pharris of Cookeville, as well as several other family members and special caregiver Sue Brewington.
Family members served as active pallbearers. Honorary: Fishers of Men Sunday School Class from West Hills Baptist Church in Lebanon.
