Census numbers up in Lebanon, MJ

Fox said if the figures are certified, the census will bring in approximately $321,750 in additional revenue for the city in the upcoming fiscal year.

The city used mailings, signs and advertisements to let citizens know about the census. Then it had employees go door-to-door to any addresses where census forms had not been returned.

Fox said the census represented a “tremendous team effort by employee in all departments of the city.”

The City of Mt. Juliet has also completed its special census and is awaiting the certified results from the state.

Mt. Juliet officials noted that the city’s population had grown to more than 24,000, an increase of 4,000 or more from 20,392 counted in a special census conducted in 2006.

Mt. Juliet officials hope to announce the official number some time next week.
