Commission to honor African American employees at tonight's meeting

Wilson County Commission will recognize 14 African American employees, each with more than two decades of service, in appreciation of Black History Month at the meeting tonight (Monday) at the Courthouse.

These employees include: Esther Hockett, 49 years of service; Linda Crutcher, 40 years of service; David Wright, 40 years of service; Patricia Walker, 37 years of service; Bonita Thompson, 34 years of service; Shirley Davis, 34 years of service; Dan Manning, 33 years of service; Robin Morthel, 29 years of service; Linda Tinch, 26 years of service; Jewell Stokes, 26 years of service; Ailene Oldham, 24 years of service; Sherry Dowell, 23 years of service; Johnny Freeman, 22 years of service; and Wanda Sweatt, 20 years of service.

The resolution is sponsored by Commissioner Annette Stafford to recognize their contributions, dedication and service.

We forget the people who run our county too often. I dont want anybody to feel as if their hard work has gone unnoticed. Their respect and love for their county hasnt gone unnoticed - we appreciate all that they do, Stafford said.
