Community Holy Week Services set

Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church will once again host the Community Holy Week Services beginning Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2.

Each service will begin at noon and will be 30 minutes in length. A light lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. The services will be held at the church at 522 Castle Heights Ave.

The theme of the Community Holy Week is “For God So Loved the World,” and the theme song will be “O, How He Loves You and Me” which will be sung each day.

Included in the service will be the Prelude, words of welcome, “Peace Award” statement and lunch invitation. Following will be the opening prayer, call to worship with the theme song and special music. Scripture, a brief message, the hymn of the day and the closing prayer will end the service.

Following is a schedule for the week:

Monday, March 29

Suggested scripture reading is Mark 14: 1-9. The speaker will be the Rev. Kevin Medlin, and the worship leader is Gerald Patton, both of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The congregational hymn for the day will be “My Jesus, I Love Thee.” Blackman High School Select Chorus, directed by Patton, will provide the special music. Cumberland Presbyterian will provide food for the lunch.

Tuesday, March 30

Suggested scripture reading is John 12: 20-36. Speaker will be the Rev. Terry Cathey of Barton’s Creek Baptist Church, and the worship leader will be John Grant of College Hills Church of Christ. The congregational hymn for the day will be “I Am Thine, O Lord.” College Hills Church of Christ will select an additional hymn to be sung a cappella. Barton’s Creek and College Hills will provide food for the luncheon.

Wednesday, March 31

Suggested scripture reading is John 3: 16-18. Speaker will be the Rev. Tom Binford of Westland United Methodist Church. Worship leader will be the Rev. John Cheetham of First Presbyterian Church. The congregational hymn for the day will be “The Old Rugged Cross.” Westland United Methodist will provide the instrumentalist and special music. Westland and First Presbyterian will provide food for the lunch.

Thursday, April 1

Suggested scripture reading is John 13: 1-17. Speaker will be the Rev. Russ Stephens of Silver Springs Baptist Church. The worship leader will be Mark Caruth of Immanuel Baptist Church. The congregational hymn will be “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.” Immanuel Baptist will provide the instrumentalist and special music. Immanuel Baptist and Silver Springs Baptist will provide food for the lunch.

Friday, April 2

Suggested scripture reading is Mark 15: 1-15. Speaker will be the Rev. Stephen Manley of the Cross Style Church. The worship leader will be Tom Freeman of The Salvation Army. The congregational hymn will be “Near the Cross.” The Salvation Army will provide the instrumentalist and special music. Cross Style Church will provide food for the luncheon.

In addition, the Peace Award will be presented to two graduating seniors who promote harmony and unity from Lebanon High School at graduation exercises. A love offering will be received daily during Community Holy Week Services and are the only source of revenue for this award. It is divided equally between the students.
