Cooper tabbed new WEMA Director

Joey Cooper has reportedly been named the new Director of Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.

Cooper, 46, will replace John Jewell who is resigning.

The new director-to-be began working with WEMA more than 20 years ago, first as a volunteer. He also served as a paramedic and firefighter and is a specialist in dealing with hazardous materials. Cooper has also served as a Battalion Chief.

He will reportedly assume his new position when he is sworn in on Nov. 18.
