Craighead thanks MJ officials for help
To the Editor:
I’m writing this letter to express our sincere gratitude to Mayor Linda Elam and City Manager Randy Robertson of the City of Mt. Juliet, and the West Wilson Utility District for assistance that was provided to us at the City of Lebanon Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The City of Lebanon is in the middle of a major expansion of our wastewater treatment plant. An undertaking of this magnitude is expensive and any delay we experience can add significantly to the cost of the project.
We recently found ourselves in a situation that required the removal of heavy sludge and grit from the bottom of an existing concrete tank. We determined that the quickest and most practical way to achieve this was by using a vactor truck.
Unfortunately, the City of Lebanon’s vactor truck was unavailable for use as it was undergoing some repair and would not be available for as long as two weeks.
Billy Dranes, treatment plant manager, contacted Shannon Joyner and explained our situation and asked if Mt. Juliet Public Works would be able to assist us. He immediately dispatched the Mt. Juliet vactor truck to the Lebanon wastewater plant. Brandon Ambrose and Jason Deadmon spent all or part of four separate days working with us to get the job done and we were able to avoid any delays to the construction project.
Also, recently an influent line was broken which is an odd size and we would have been down a couple of days waiting for the part if Kelly at the West Wilson Utility District did not have the repair sleeve on his shelf. This is the second time he has helped us out.
The city “boundaries” blur in a time of need. We hope to reciprocate their kindness in the future.
Philip CraigheadMayor, City of Lebanon
