Cumberland University's baseball team welcomes Oklahoma Wesleyan to Stockton Field today at 2 p.m. before hosting Campbellsville University this weekend in a three-game Mid-South Conference series.
Live radio coverage begins at 1:40 p.m. on WCOR-AM 1490.
The Bulldogs slipped to 18-12 on the season following Tuesday afternoon's 2-0 loss to No. 3-ranked Embry-Riddle.
E-R's David Lidyard (4-1) tossed a four-hit shutout, throwing just 72 pitches, in his first start of the season. He did not walk a batter, struck out two and allowed just one baserunner to reach third base – leadoff hitter Chris Hall in the first inning.
The Bulldogs swung early and often and the righthander threw 17 first-pitch strikes in the win.
Liam Goodall’s RBI triple in the fourth scored pinch-runner Logan Bailey and he was running for Darryl Knight, who reached on an error. Goodall came across on a wild pitch for the second run and that was more than enough for Lidyard.
Hall collected a pair of doubles and had half of the club’s four hits in the game.
Jake Collier (1-3) was on the short end for the third time this season on the mound, giving up one earned run while scattering nine hits. The righthander walked three, struck out four and worked around three baserunners in the first, fourth and seventh innings and two more in the sixth.
Jake Cavendar and Kevin Lindheim along with Goodall each posted two hits apiece for Embry-Riddle (19-13), which ended a two-game losing streak with the win.
