Cumberland responded with an 11-play, 57-yard scoring drive to pull within eight, capped by a three-yard run from Majors. The Bulldog defense stiffened and got the ball back, but Eads threw and interception that was run back for a touchdown to put the game away for the University of the Cumberlands.

"Everything was dead even in total yards and time of possession," CU head coach Dewayne Alexander said. "[The University of the Cumberlands] had a really good third quarter. It was back and forth, but we never could stop them in the second half.

Eads finished the game 21-of-35 for 319 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Tight end Mitch Reynolds had six catches for 51 yards, while running back J.T. Majors carried 17 times for 62 yards and score. Linebacker Stephon Ransomled the defense with 12 tackles.

The Bulldogs play their first home game of the season next Saturday Oct. 4, hosting Bethel College at 1:30 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium.

Homecoming activities begin Monday and conclude Saturday before the game, including tailgating at the stadium sponsored by the Wilson County Sports Council that will feature food from area restaurants.

WANT FM-98.9's acclaimed "Coaches Beakfast Show" will broadcast live from the ailgate party Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. and will include a "bonus 30 minutes" of Cumberland University coverage.
