Chris Hall went 4-for-6 while Daniel Harrison and Tyler Anderson each added three hits. Anderson belted his first homer of the season and ended the game with three RBI. Cory Urquhart and Richie Seaton had three RBI each.
In game two, led 4-0 after two, but four Grizzly runs in the bottom of the inning tied the game at 4-all. With the game still knotted in the fourth, GGC connected for three scores to jump in front, 7-4.
Drew Riley (7-1) struck out five batters through five innings before Joe Albertson and Frank Warren pitched the final two innings. Cumberland scored once in the sixth but Warrens perfect seventh sealed his first save.
Evin Einhardt (0-2) started and was tagged with the loss. Einhardt was chased after 3.2 innings after having faced 20 batters and surrendering seven runs.
Urquhart and Brodie Ross had two hit apiece for CU in the loss.
Saturday, March 23CU 5, St. Catharine 1LEBANON -- Kevin P. Greene scattered eight hits in a complete game, Chris Hall collected four hits and Craig Monson drove in a pair of Cumberlands 5-1 series-sweeping victory over St. Catharine College in baseball action Saturday at Stockton Field.
Richie Seaton and Justin Johnston each posted two hits and Johnston scored twice for the Bulldogs (22-10-1, 10-2), who moved into a tie for first place in the Mid-South Conference with the series sweep and Campbellsville University losing 2-of-3 at home to UVA-Wise.
Greene (4-1) tossed his second straight complete game in just his second start of the year, this time going nine innings. The righthander walked one, struck out five and induced doubleplays to end threats in the fifth and seventh innings. He has now allowed just one run in his last six appearances covering 26.2 innings of work.
St. Catharine starter Bruce Tolliver (3-3) took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits in five innings. He walked seven and struck out four.
The Bulldogs plated a run in the first for an early lead after Hall singled with one out and stole second. Monson then walked before a single to leftcenter by Brodie Ross loaded the bases. Daniel Harrison drew a walk, forcing in the first run of the game.
The Patriots knotted the score in the third with a two-out single and stolen base by Carlos Hernandez. CJ Englestad walked before an RBI single up the middle from KC Mejia.
Cumberland took the lead for good in the fourth with a leadoff walk to Tyler Alford. Pinch-runner Chris Del Bianco went to second on a sacrifice by Johnston and third on a groundout by Cory Urquhart. Hall walked, putting runners on the corners, before an RBI single up the middle by Monson put the Bulldogs ahead, 2-1.
In the sixth Johnston reached on an infield single and went to second when the throw from shortstop Adrian Garcia got away. Urquharts sacrifice pushed the runner to third and Halls bunt single plated Johnston for a 3-1 edge.
Cumberland scored two insurance runs in the eighth, starting with a leadoff homer by Alford, his third of the season. Johnston, Urquhart and Hall all followed with singles and Monsons groundout put the Bulldogs up, 5-1.
