Elston’s long run gave the Bulldogs and early lead and Travis Carter’s seven-yard TD run with 5:58 remaining in the opening quarter put the visitors ahead 14-0.
The teams traded field goals, with Michael Hinson hitting a 26-yarder early in the second quarter for CU.
The Bulldogs then put together a five-play drive that covered 99 yards in the final minute of the half, capped by Elston’s TD catch for a 24-3 CU advantage at the break.
J.T. Majors had a four-yard TD plunge early in the third quarter and Eads hit Josh Crouch for an 86-yard scoring pass midway through the third quarter for the final scoring in the contest.
"I really thought this was a team win. The offense and the defense played very well," head coach Dewayne Alexander said. "We were very balanced offensively for the second week in a row and the defense’s two big stands in the first half really set a tone for the rest of the game."
