Our administration felt like it is really important, not only to honor veterans, but to teach our students the importance of honoring them, said MJCA admissions director Renee Reed. It is something we want our students to participate in.

Worley, 48, and a native of Pyburn in Hardin County, has charted three No. 1 singles so far in his career, "I Miss MY Friend", "Have Your Forgotten" and "Awful, Beautiful Life". "Have You Forgotten", stayed at No. 1 for seven weeks in 2003.

Each year, Worley hosts a charity foundation event, the "Tennessee River Run" in Savannah / Hardin County. Proceeds benefit the Darryl Worley Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that provides funds to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Reed said the MJCA festivities will include a presentation of the colors, singing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, before special speaker Robert Hibbett takes to the podium. Hibbett is a veteran and a Bronze Star recipient.

This is something that for months now we have wanted to do. We have planned it so that we would have a celebration that the students could participate in, Reed said.

The event will take place at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy, located at 735 N. Mt. Juliet Rd. For more information, email Renee Reed at rreed@mjca.org.
