Decorated Army Ranger Max Lankes, 76
A member of Lebanon's Maple Hill Church of Christ, he spent 20 years serving with the U.S. Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam, as a Ranger, Combat Infantryman and Master Jumper. He retired from the military with the rank of Major after being awarded three Bronze Stars, one with Valor.
Mr. Lankes was a member and past president of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club, past president of the Mt. Juliet Booster Club and a member of the Tyler Cates American Legion Post #281.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Bond Memorial Chapel and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Services will be conducted by Russ Corley. Interment with full military honors will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: children Tim (Julia) Lankes, Tana (John) White and Todd (Tammy) Lankes; brother Al (Anna) Lankes; grandchildren Chelsea, Tazz, Tabitha, Spencer, Justin and Colton; great grandchildren Cooper and Hayden and companion Charlene Carter.
Active pallbearer: Tazz White, Justin Lankes, Colton Lankes, Spencer Thompson, Bob Lankes, Jim Hunter, Andy Bond, Dr. David Clariday and Hoover Sutherland. Honorary: members of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club and Earl Beaty.
