Devilettes oust Beech in 9AAA

LHS 43, Beech 41 (OT)
SHACKLE ISLAND -- Lebanon High's Devilettes kept their season alive with a thrilling 43-41 overtime victory at Beech Thursday night in the opening round of the District 9AAA tournament.

Coach Larry Inman's team improved to 16-9 on the season and advances to a 4 p.m. semifinal game Saturday at Gallatin against top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Mt. Juliet.

K.D. Williams connected on a clutch free throw with 15.9 seconds remaining in the extra period and the LHS defense forced a Beech miss at the buzzer.

Senior Marissa Jennings paced LHS with 13 points while Julia Fox pumped in four 3-pointers and finished with 12. McKenzie Lamberson added eight, including a big 3-pointer at the start of overtime. Williams had six.

The win assures Lebanon of a berth in next week's Region 5AAA tournament.

FCS 51, TCHS 24
GORDONSVILLE -- Friendship Christian's Lady Commanders knocked off Trousdale County 51-24 Thursday in the semifinals of the District 8A tournament.

The No. 2-seeded FCS squad advances to the district finals Monday at 7:30 p.m. against No. 1-seeded Red Boiling Springs. RBS knocked off host Gordonsville 56-47 Thursday in the other semifinal game.

Laurel Burroughs led FCS with 14 points. Deja Jones and Kaitlyn Teeter each chipped in with 11 points as the Lady Commanders improved to 17-7 overall.

MJ 65, Gallatin 24
MT. JULIET -- The Lady Bears of Mt. Juliet flexed their collective muscle Thursday with a convincing 65-24 win over Gallatin in the first round of the District 9AAA tournament.

The win upped Mt. Juliet's record to 26-2 on the season headed into a 4 p.m. Saturday semifinal game vs. Lebanon at Gallatin.

Mt. Juliet jumped ahead 22-4 early and never looked back as Caya Williams finished with 13 and Paige Baugher had 12.

CENTRAL 44, HHS 32
LEBANON -- No. 2-seeded Wilson Central improved to 22-3 on the season after Thursday night's 44-32 win over Hendersonville High in the opening round of the 9AAA tournament.

Central advances to the semifinals on Saturday in Gallatin where the Lady Wildcats will tangle with Station Camp Saturday at 7 p.m. at Gallatin.

CaSandra Thomason paced Wilson Central with 10 points, Ieshia Hassell and Taylor Peterson each finished with eight points.
