A disposition court date is set for May 18 for Hiram Edward Sheler Jr., who was arrested this past week and charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse and neglect following an indictment by a Wilson County grand jury.

Sheler, 24, of Hermitage, was arrested on Wednesday, March 14, and charged in the death and abuse of 13-month-old Haileigh Dilts. The toddler was reportedly injured in an incident on Jan. 7 in Mt. Juliet.

The child was taken to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital with major head injuries where she was hospitalized for weeks before passing away from her injuries in February.

Sheler is reported to have been the childs mothers boyfriend at the time of the incident, but she has not been charged.

The suspect is to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on May 18 for disposition. A disposition hearing is held to hear motions and to determine what evidence will be admitted.

Sheler remains in the Wilson County Jail on $100,000 bond.
