Early voting ends July 31
There are three early voting locations in Wilson County. They are the Election Commission office at 203 East Main Street, Lebanon; Mt. Juliet Community Center at 1075 Charlie Daniels Pkwy. Mt. Juliet; and Watertown Community Center at 8630 Sparta Pike, Watertown.
Hours are from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday. Early voting ends Saturday, July 31. Even though Wilson may lead Davidson, the turnout so far could be better. “Well, for 2-1/2 days, it’s not great. We hope for better. We’ve been pretty busy today,” Harris said of activity at the Election Commission.
She said she talked to someone at the Mt. Juliet voting site on Tuesday who told her at that time “it was pouring rain in Mt. Juliet.” There are 67,500 registered voters in Wilson County.
The ballot is a lengthy one and will take a little longer to get through. On the ballot for the Aug. 5 election are the following: Governor, State Representative, State Senate, State Executive Committee members for the Republican and Democratic Parties, U.S. Representative, County Mayor, County Commission, County Trustee, Sheriff, Criminal Court Judge, Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, Wilson County Board of Education, Lebanon Special School District Board of Education, Constable, State Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
Harris urged everyone to study the ballot before voting. “Come and vote. It’s all out there for them,” she said. For more information about early voting or voting on Election Day, call the Election Commission at 444-0216.
