Elie leads LHS over Siegel


Lebanon rode a 27-point effort from senior Icelyn Elie Tuesday as the Devilettes defeated Siegel 49-42 at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.

The victory boosted LHS to 9-13 overall and 6-7 in District 7AAA while Siegel slid to 15-8 on the season. Lebanon took an early 15-4 lead and never looked back.

Marissa Jennings backed Elie with nine while Bryanna Payton and Anna Stafford chipped in with six each. Freshman McKenzie Lamberson added a free throw.

Boy’s action Tuesday found Siegel mounting a big comeback and defeating Lebanon 72-64.

Lebanon started out hot, leading 27-18 after one period, but the Stars continued to chip away, finally taking the lead at the end of the third.

Xavier Smith had 18 for LHS while Robert Crudup had 15 and Ryan Beadle 10 as the Blue Devils slipped to 14-11 overall / 8-5 in District 7AAA.

Kerry Hammonds had 24 for Siegel and Marc Gooch finished with 15. The Stars improved to 21-5 overall.

LHS visits Cookeville Friday night and will entertain Wilson Central Monday, Feb. 16.
