LEBANON -- A monstrous first quarter was all Friendship Christian needed to secure a win in their regular season finale against Monterey Friday at Pirtle Field – scoring 42 points in the first quarter en route to a 49-0 victory.
Junior tailback Dekolas Reeves helped spark the FCS scoring outburst by ripping off touchdown runs of 29 and 78 yards on the Commanders' first two drives. Reeves finished with 130 yards on just seven carries.
The Wildcats (4-6, 3-5 Region 4A) struggled to get anything going offensively against the tough Commander defense.
The Commander attack didn't slow up throughout the duration of the first quarter, scoring four more touchdowns in addition to those scored early by Reeves.
Senior tailback Dylan Boyd also played a big part in the offensive attack, collecting two touchdowns on 6- and 74-yard runs respectively.
The Commanders (8-2, 6-2 Region 4A), ranked No. 7 in Class 2A, pulled the plug after the first quarter, adding just one more touchdown late in the third period.
The win locked up a home playoff game for FCS, Friday, Nov. 6 vs. Marion County.
