FCS, Central reach region finals

LEBANON -- Sophomore Hunter Holland threw a one-hitter and struck out five Monday as Friendship Christian run-ruled visiting Jackson County 10-0 in the opening round of the Region 4A softball tournament.

The Lady Commanders improved to 18-18 on the season with the win and are scheduled to hostClay Gordonsville for the region championship Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Holland helped her own cause Monday with three hits and a pair of runs batted in. Brooke Klinerfelter went 3-for-3 with two triples and knocked in two runs. Kaity Woodall and Laurel Burroughs each added two hits to the FCS attack.

Wilson Central 9, Dickson Co. 2
DICKSON -- Wilson Central defeated Dickson County 9-2 Tuesday night in the Region 5AAA softball opener -- moving the Lady Wildcats into Wednesday's 5 p.m. regional championship game.

Central will take on Beech High at Volunteer State Community College. Win or lose, the Lady Wildcats will earn a spot in the TSSAA sectional game on Friday.

Trailing 2-1, Wilson Central struck of six in the top of the fifth inning and improved to 22-15 on the season.
