Friendship Christian roared through pool play undefeated and went 3-0 in the elimination phase to win Wilson Centrals annual Fall Fling tournament Saturday evening.
The top-seeded Lady Commanders downed Beech 25-24, 25-19 in the first round of the single-elimination tournament, then held off Franklin 25-21 and 25-20 before beating Covenant Christian from Huntsville, Ala. 25-22 and 25-17 in the finals.
The defending state champions improved to 32-0 with the tournament title -- but did so with two-time all-stater and Lipscomb commitment Kaitlyn Teeter playing in the back row.
The senior hitter battled through discomfort in her right (hitting) shoulder during the tournament and played at the Libero position on Saturday.
Mt. Juliet High made it to the Silver (consolation) Bracket of the tournament and won three consecutive games to take the Silver title.
The Lady Bears knocked off Clarksville Northeast 25-10 and 25-9 Saturday afternoon, followed by a 26-24, 20-25, 15-11 win over Portland in the semifinals.
Mt. Juliet topped Franklin Road Academy 26-24, 19-25 and 15-10 for the Silver trophy. Coach Jennifer Wilsons team improved to 22-6 overall after Saturday.
The Lady Bears will put their District 9AAA record of 7-0 on the line this week with league games vs. Gallatin and Portland.
Host Wilson Central and Lebanon High also participated in the tournament.
