Join the families of Friendship Christian School for a taste of Italy on Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m.
The dinner, benefiting the FCS Annual Fund, also features a unique partnership with a local jewelry company. Professional jewelers will examine gold and silver jewelry on the spot and make a purchase offer to each attendee. If they choose to sell, the attendee gets paid immediately for their gold and then the jewelry company donates 20 percent of their total event purchase to FCS.
Both individuals and FCS benefit financially, organizers said. Individuals are getting the best return the market has seen in many years by selling their previous gold purchases as a result of the current high gold prices. In most instances, attendees are selling mismatched earrings, out of style jewelry, broken, worn out or simply just unwanted pieces that were just taking up drawer space. Getting that “money” out of old jewelry boxes and into circulation helps local businesses and the economy, organizers said. They added that recycling gold into cash is also a good thing for the planet. Recycling metals also lessens our footprint on the environment by offsetting the demands for harmful mining.
“When times are tough, we can always find creative ways to give and help each other.” A representative of the jewelry firm said. “That’s why I love these fundraisers and I am so excited to be helping such a wonderful school. People leave with a check and a smile, knowing they’ve got some extra cash to spend and feeling good about helping their child’s or grandchild’s school.”
Tickets for the Italian Street Fair Dinner are $10, and $5 for children age 5 and under, and are available at the main office of the school or you may call FCS at 449-1573 to make reservations.
