Award winning film producer and director T.N. Mohan personally presents his highly acclaimed documentary on the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “Hanged on a Twisted Cross, The Life, Convictions and Martyrdom of Dietrich Bonhoeffer,” at Crave Christian Bookstore & Café in Lebanon on Friday, May 1st at 6:30 p.m.

“We're setting up the big screen for this big event! We’re so excited to have the actual producer and director of so many quality documentaries and films share his time and talents at Crave,” said Bridgette Belew of Crave Bookstore & Café, adding “and we can all learn so much from the life and convictions of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.”

Mohan has created more than 20 multiple award winning productions in a career that spans four continents and more than 20 countries. Mohan's award-winning films include the Templeton Foundation Peace Prize and International Emmy nominated biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “Hanged on a Twisted Cross,” that won the Chris Award at the Columbus Film Festival, the feature length documentary on the 16th century German reformer Martin Luther, “Here I Stand!” a film about POW exchange, “For One English Officer,” a film on the on the rescue and recovery operations after the 9-11 tragedy, “After the Fall,” and the Bollywood film, “The Gift,” based on a true story of a friendship between a 10-year-old rich child and a blind homeless man, a four-part series on Islam and Christianity, “Truth to Tell!” a six-part series on Poverty in America, “The 51st State,” and most recently, a biography on the most prolific English poet and hymnwriter Charles Wesley, “A Heart Set Free.” Projects in development include the 17-part miniseries on the Apostles Creed, a multi-part series on the contemporary adaptation of the Parables of Jesus, a five-part series on the history of English hymns and a three-part series on the Environment.

Bonhoeffer, a German theologian and pastor, is considered a martyr for his faith.  Executed by the Nazis just days before the Allies defeated Germany in World War II, he was a participant in the resistance movement against Nazism and was involved in various schemes formulated by members of the German Military Intelligence Office to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Mohan’s documentary, narrated by Ed Asner, captures the life, times and thoughts of Bonhoeffer. Using rare archival footage, documents and visits to original locations, one gets an intimate portrait of a man whose life and writings grow in their influence and speak powerfully to issues of our own day some 50 years later.

Mohan will follow up his film with a question and answer session where he will discuss his many films including one of his current projects, a 17-part series on the Apostle's Creed. Mohan will also autograph any DVDs purchased that evening.

Crave Bookstore, Coffeehouse & Café will be open and serving dinner and drinks during the film. Classes and groups are welcome, but are asked to call ahead in order for Crave to best accommodate with seating. Crave encourages all who plan on attending to call ahead and reserve seating.
