Buzzer-beater lifts FCS
HARTSVILLE -- Friendship Christian's Anthony Williams drilled not one, but two 3-pointers in the final 4.1 seconds Friday to lead the Commanders to an inprobable 40-38 win over Trousdale County.
Down 38-34, williams tossed in a three to cut the score to 38-37. After a timeout with 4.1 second left, Allen Heaston deflected the TCHS inbounds pass of an opponents' leg -- giving the ball back to Friendship with 2.3 second remaining.
Rolling off a screen, Williams took an inbounds pass deep in the left corner and nailed the buzzer-beater.
After trailing by as many as 15 points int he fourth quarter, Friendship improved to 5-11 overall, 2-3 in District 8A.
Zac Anderson paced FCS with 14 points, Williams had 10 while Andrew Wood and Heaston each had eight.
The Commanders will host Gordonsville High Monday, in a 6 p.m. twinbill at the bay Family Sportsplex.
Wilson Central tops Lebanon
GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central outscored Lebanon 38-27 in the second half of Friday's 57-44 home win over the Blue Devils.
Wildcat Jacob Williams led all scorers with 19 while Ben Palmer added 12. Lebanon was led by KeShawn Abston with 14 points.
WCHS improved to 17-6 overall and 7-3 in District 9AAA while LHS fell to 8-14 / 4-6. Central will play at gallatin Tuesday; Lebanon visits Station Camp.
Watertown rips Van Buren County
WATERTOWN -- Cruising to a 24-11 lead after one quarter, Watertown rilled to an easy 76-43 home win Friday night over Van Buren County.
Macieo Gaines had 13 points for the No. 5-ranked Purple Tigers while Ty Jobe added 2 and Josiah Smith finished with 11.
WHS visits Monterey High on Monday.
