Charges are still pending following an investigation of a wreck that occurred just before 8 p.m. on Friday, said Lebanon Police Officer Wayne Howard.
Howard said dispatch received the call at 7: 55 p.m. regarding a series of accidents on Highway 231 North.
The driver of a Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on Highway 231 when the vehicle struck the left rear corner panel of a 1999 Dodge Durango. Following the first hit, the Caravan veered across a double yellow line into the opposite lane and hit a 2003 Nissan Altima head-on.
Howard said an adult driver was transporting two child passengers in the Nissan Altima. All three were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The driver was treated for a fractured femur, broken hip and internal bleeding; both children had broken collarbones and one of them had a cut on his arm. Both the driver of the Altima and the driver of the Caravan have not yet been released from the hospital.
The driver of the Caravan was treated for a punctured lung. The driver of the Durango was OK at the scene.
The roadway in the Oakdale and Hartmann Drive North area was shut down for a time after the accident occurred.
Howard said a blood sample was taken from the driver of the Caravan and that LPD is still investigating to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
