Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the First United Methodist Church for Dr. Joe F. Bryant, 78, of Lebanon. Born in 1932, Dr. Bryant died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011at his residence following an extended illness.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday and 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday in the Partlow Funeral Chapel.
Visitation 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 until funeral services at 1 p.m. at Lebanons First United Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted by Brother Donald Owens, Bishop Robert Spain, Brother Maurice Moore, Brother Ed Blackburn, Brother Delwyn Fryer and Brother Danny Sellars. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Raised in Newbern, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee Martin. He continued his education at the University of Tennessee - Memphis where he graduated from Medical School in 1955.
He owned a family practice in Lebanon and performed general surgery at University Medical Center. Dr. Bryant owned and managed a local television station. He was named the Tennessee Outstanding Young Man of 1965 by the United States Jaycees and was a recipient of Cumberland University's Phoenix Award. He formerly served as Chairman of CU's Board of Trust.
Dr. Bryant is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Laura (Kirk) Honeyman and son Frank Bryant.
