A 1948 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, Forrester was an Infantryman, serving through two wars. He was the sixth of seven children born to Robert and Christine Forrester in rural Watertown.
Gen. Forrester will be buried with full military honors at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 followed by a reception at Herbert Hall at West Point.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Ft. Myer Memorial Chapel in Arlington, VA followed by a reception at the Army Navy Country Club.
Gen. Forrester is survived by a son, Chip Forrester of Tennessee (currently the Chairman of the Tennessee Democratic Party) and daughters Pamela Forrester (Joseph Landers Jr.) of Tallahassee, FL; and Elizabeth (David) Haselkorn of Washington, D.C. along with five grandchildren.
He is preceded by his wife, Mary Louise Wagner, and grandson Wilson Waters Forrester.
