Gretchen Wilson boots up

Her newest album, I Got Your Country Right Here, is currently in stores and her “I’d Love To Be Your Last” single is hitting radio now. She was nominated for two Grammy Awards this year.

The Boot Campaign is a grassroots initiative started by five women from Texas known as the Boot Girls. The Boot Campaign provides a tangible way for Americans to show support for the troops (both past and present) that’s practical and directly benefits military personnel who are returning home from active duty. Proceeds from boot sales are donated to partner charities, including the Lone Survivor Foundation, which assist returning veterans dealing with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and varying degrees of physical injuries.

For each pair of boots sold (priced at $130 a pair), The Lone Survivor Foundation and other veteran charities will receive equal shares of the net profits of $25 to support their programs for returning veterans.

Wilson will host the third annual Music at the Mill on Saturday, Feb. 26. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the venue on 300 N. Maple Street. Limited tickets are still available. Prices range from $50 to $125 and are available by calling 444-2678. The benefit concert supports McClain Christian Academy.
