Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at the Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown for Mr. Halbert Charles Ashworth, 64, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Mr. Ashworth, a Wilson County native and a 1965 graduate of Watertown High, died Monday, May 28, 2012 after having attended the 100 Year Celebration of Watertown High School. His ancestors were among the founding members of the Watertown community.
The son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Smith Ashworth, he was a graduate of the University of Tennessee - Knoxville with an accounting degree. He enjoyed a long and successful career with the federal government in the administrations of pensions in Washington, D.C.
Upon retirement, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale. He had a love for history and travel, which took him far and wide.
Survivors include, a brother Sam Ashworth of Hendersonville. He is mourned by lifelong friends Dr. Arlen Leight and Sandy Leana Kaiser as well as a niece, nephews, numerous cousins and friends -- both in Florida and Tennessee.
Visitation is set for 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 12 Noon until the service.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Tim Stewart. Burial will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
