Hicks indicted for wifes 2009 murder
Forbes-Hicks’ decomposing body was found in the woods off Highway 452 near the Superspeedway on Aug. 20, 2009. The roadway in that area is located in Rutherford County.
Hicks was first arrested by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department and charged with abuse of a corpse six days after her body was discovered and was released on a $10,000 bond.
A news release from the TBI on Thursday said that during the course of the investigation, “it was revealed that Carla Hicks died of an overdose of pills her husband gave her and when she died, he dumped her body.”
He was on probation after pleading in the abuse of a corpse case at the time of his arrest yesterday.
The Wilson Post reported in its Aug. 26, 2009 edition that Murfreesboro police went to the couple’s home there to investigate an attempted suicide. A report from the Murfreesboro police said Forbes-Hicks admitted that she took a bottle of aspirin and approximately 20 to 30 Xanax tablets. Xanax is prescribed to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks.
The case was presented to the Rutherford County grand jury because investigators believed the death of Forbes-Hicks occurred in Murfreesboro.
