LEBANON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Marvelyne Dawson Place are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, January 23 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Rev. David Hesson officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Friday 3-8 p.m. and after 12 Noon Saturday at Ligon & Bobo.
Mrs. Place, age 85 of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at her home. Born June 5, 1924, in Smith County, she was the daughter of the late Phocian and John Lillie Parker Dawson. Mrs. Place was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In 2005, she retired from Walmart after working 36 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. Place Sr. on January 11, 1982; infant son Lynn Dawson Place; brother Floyd Dawson; and sisters Jewell Bennett, Alma Conatser, Thelma Dawson, Joyce Gann, Flora Dean Dawson and Lera Bates.
She is survived by children Herbert Bryson Place Jr. of Lebanon; and Sandra Place (Frank) Hartley of Nashville; granddaughters Jenniferanne Hartley of Nashville and Julie Hartley (Rob) McConnell of Spring Hill; great granddaughter Savannah Paige McConnell; sisters Lorene Conatser and Dorothy (Kennard) Reed -- all of Lebanon; sister-in-law Geraldine Dawson Murray of Gordonsville and brother-in-law Gus Bates of Lebanon; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
