WATERTOWN -- Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, March 31 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. Lawrence, 88, of Watertown.
A US Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Lawrence died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Summit medical Center.
Retired from Kraft Foods and TRW Ross Gear, Mr. Lawrence was born in DeKalb County to the late James Leslie Lawrence and Mary Yates Lawrence.
He was a graduate of Liberty High School, a member of the Shop Springs Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Comer Lodge No. 417 F&AM.
Services were conducted by Rev. Carl Price and Dr. David Briscoe. Burial was at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: wife Geneva Granstaff Lawrence of Watertown; sons Hugh Mathis (Linda) Lawrence of Smithville and Steven Hill (Carol) Lawrence of Chicago, IL; and step-son James Robert (Peggy Gabriel) Trammel along with four grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Jimmy Morgan, Jimbo Robertson, Roy Walker, Wilson Cowan, Bobby Fisher and Eddie Mathis.
