A new arm of the West Wilson Arts Alliance is gearing up, and you can join other local writers for support, networking and critique groups. Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Wilson County is in need of volunteers who would like to reach out to those in need in Wilson County. Volunteers must be age 55 or older. If you are interested in participating or partnering with the program, call 443-7606 or 742-1113, ext. 10.

Agape has contracted with Maple Hill church of Christ to provide counseling services in Lebanon. Licensed Clinical Social Worker Diana Crawford will be available at the church building on Mondays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. She sees children and adults. For information, call 547-4244.

AL-ANON and ALATEEN family groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. They believe alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid in recovery. There is a local AL-ANON and ALATEEN meeting in Lebanon every week. First Wednesdays of each month, a Healing Service, is held by Sister A.A.A. Stafford at the Sports Village Complex, 1735 West Main Street, Lebanon, beginning at 10:15 a.m.

Faces of Hope Therapy Center will host Special Needs Soccer for all children with special needs. Teams meet Saturday mornings at the center at 301 Hancock Street, Gallatin, from 9 until 11 a.m. There is no charge to attend. Children from Wilson County are welcome to attend.

Wilson Central Evening with the Arts will be Friday, Nov. 20. Exhibitions begin at 6:30 p.m. for the Band, Choir, Dance, Drama and Art students. There will be a silent auction of original student works, art events tickets, gift certificates and other arts related memorabilia beginning at 6:30. Tickets may be purchased in the WCHS office for $10 in advance and $12 at the door the night of the performance.

Wilson County Commission Budget Committee will meet at noon, Friday, Nov. 20 in Conference Room 2, Wilson County Courthouse, Lebanon, to hear from fee offices regarding District 2 Commissioner Chris Sorey’s proposed resolution.

Wilson County Concerned Citizens for Veterans will meet on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at the East/West Building at the James E. Ward Ag Center.

Holiday Baked & Take will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21 in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, 415 West Main Street, Lebanon. Cookies will be sold by the pound – eat them now or freeze them for later. You can pick the cookies you want in any assortment (boxes and gloves provided). Guest speaker will be Laurie Cardoza Moore who will discuss her new film project. Also, Sarah Palin’s planned visit to Nashville for the NRB Convention will be discussed. Hometown Village Craft and Bake Sale, presented by the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizen’s Center, will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21 at a new location, West Wilson Middle School, located 2 miles from the Providence MarketPlace. There will be more than 50 vendors, crafters, artists and businesses on hand. The event is a fund raiser for the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizen’s Center. Everyone is invited.

Volunteer State Community College Homecoming celebrated by Alumni Association will be Saturday, Nov. 21. The Pioneer basketball teams will take on Motlow State in two games: 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Alumni in attendance will be recognized at half court between the games. Vol State Cheerleaders and the Dance Team are set to perform. The Alumni Association and the Athletic Department will host a hospitality room beginning at 1 p.m. Alumni can enjoy refreshments and reconnect with friends. The Alumni Advisory Council is challenging Alumni with the “Your Change Can Make a Change” Campaign. Bring your loose change to donate to the Vol State Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

Turkey Shoot, sponsored by Gladeville Community Center and Gladeville Men’s Club, will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22 with the final one on Dec. 6. Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week for shoebox gifts is now through Monday, Nov. 23. Shoeboxes may be dropped off locally at Mt.
