Homeless in Wilson County

Homeless children may live in a tent or a camper, sleep on a different couch every night, sleep in a car or even sleep in a ditch. They have no permanent, safe, predictable place to call home, according to Karen Young, Wilson County Schools Student Training Enrichment and Progress (STEP) liaison.

Bulldogs headed back to Orange Beach --
LEBANON -- Freshman Emily Shires scored twice and assisted on another goal as 11th-ranked Cumberland rolled to a 5-0 victory over the University of Rio Grande in the NAIA Championship Women's Soccer Opening Round Saturday afternoon at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

The Bulldogs (16-3-1) advance to the NAIA Championships final site in Orange Beach, Ala., for the third consecutive year and will take either Concordia [CA] University or Bellevue University Tuesday, December 2 at 4 p.m. Central Time.

Wildcats sweep Wilson County Duals

Thursday at Wilson Central High
GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central swept two matches Thursday in the annual Wilson County Duals, defeating Lebanon 65-14 and Mt. Juliet 68-7.

The match with LHS was wrestled in front of the WCHS student body with over 1,400 in the main gymnasium.

CU FOOTBALL -- 23 earn MSC academic honors

LEBANON -- Twenty-three Cumberland University football players were named Mid-South Conference Scholar-Athletes this week, including 16 letterwinners from this year's 6-5 squad.

Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.25 grade-point-average to be eligible for the award.
