McKinney takes job at UT-Chattanooga --
BREAKING NEWS -- Gavin McKinney, head coach of the Cumberland University women's soccer program, was announced Tuesday as the new head coach at NCAA Division I University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

McKinney had a 71-26-3 (.725) record in five seasons at Cumberland, including three straight trips to the NAIA Sweet 16.

McKENZIE -- Marquel Hickerson netted 16 points, leading four players in double figures, but Caleb Hardy hit a short jumper under the basket just before the buzzer, giving Bethel University a 65-63 victory over Cumberland in men's basketball action Saturday.

The Bulldogs (5-7) led by as many as 13 points in the first half and took a 32-29 advantage to intermission. The second half featured five ties and nine lead changes, the final one on Hardy's basket in the last second of the contest.

LEBANON -- Woody Hunt apparently moved to the top of Santa's "nice" list after leading his Cumberland Bulldogs to the 2014 Avista-NAIA National Championship -- his third as head coach.

The jolly fat man placed a 204-pound package under Hunt's tree earlier this week when the NAIA granted right-handed pitcher Jake Collier an extra year of eligibility.

CU women fall Sunday to No. 2 Lewis

LEBANON -- Second-ranked Lewis University got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Mariyah Brawner-Henley and 16 points off the bench by Alexus Grayer and held off a second-half Cumberland comeback, defeating the Bulldogs, 75-59, Sunday at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
