GLADEVILLE -- A benefit concert is set June 7 to help a local family with medical expenses incurred after the mother was diagnosed with cancer. Cindy Smith Shaver and her family are long-time residents of Mt. Juliet and Wilson County. She grew up in the Clearview area and graduated from Mt. Juliet High School in 1978. She went on to become a Registered Nurse at Baptist and Centennial Hospitals in Nashville. Shaver was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. She has battled and fought this disease with all that is in her, her friends said. They added that she is one of the most courageous women that you will ever meet. To look at her, you would never know that the battle she is fighting now is for her life. She is married to Jeff Shaver. She has four children, Meredith Auld, 21, and Marlee Auld, 19, who both attend Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville; her son, Austin Auld, 17, who will be a senior at Wilson Central High School; and Kendyl, her youngest, 7, who will be in third grade at West Elementary. Shaver is the daughter of Wilburn and Ann Smith and the late Evelyn Smith. She is the sister of Vicki Lowe of Lebanon, Danny Smith of Wilson County and Kelly Sherman of Ohio. Her family and friends have planned a Yard Sale and Bake Sale and Silent Auction for Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Wilson Central High School. There will be a live band and other family activities. If you would like to donate anything, call Angel Sullivan at (615) 290-3515, Kristi Adkins at (615) 308-1898 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ; Renee Page at (615) 260-3296 or Lowe at (615) 449-7555 or (615) 594-7555.
