Plans are well underway for the Lebanon Health Fair, set for Saturday, March 27 from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon at Castle Heights Upper Elementary. More than 35 booths will be set up by community organizations, all with an emphasis on health.

The goal of the Health Fair is to inform Wilson County residents of the services provided by local organizations with an effort to help others, said Wilson County Health Council Chairman Chuck Whitlock. The WCHC is organizing and sponsoring the event with help from the Lebanon Police Department and SWAT Team, Lebanon Fire Department, Wilson County Schools and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Performances are scheduled by local gymnastics and karate groups, emphasizing the importance of an active lifestyle for school-age children and adults alike. THP officers will be on hand doing car seat checks and presenting their roll-over vehicle, demonstrating the effects of a roll-over crash on unsecured drivers.

Food will also be provided by Lebanon Public Safety. Health Council members have asked all the vendors to supply door prizes for raffle drawings which will take place all day, with such items as a youth karate outfit, a month of free karate lessons and passes to the Jimmy Floyd Family Life Center along with other possible items.

There will be fun activities for the kids, with bouncers being donated by Clyde’s Sliders, Build-a-Bear Workshop on hand for creating custom teddy bears and the popular arcade game Dance-Dance Revolution to play. In an effort to get qualified health and physical fitness personnel to work the event, Whitlock said Wilson County Schools will provide in-service credit for school nurses and physical education teachers who volunteer to help.

The Health Council plans to hold another health fair in Mt. Juliet next, serving those in West Wilson. The event will be free and open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend.
