James R. Dodson, 82
LEBANON -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the First Baptist Church for Mr. James. R. Dodson, 82, of Lebanon.
A longtime law enforcement officer and former Chief of the Lebanon Police Department, Mr. Dodson died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Alive Hospice following a battle with cancer.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Dodson was the son of the late Raymond and Lula Dodson. A Southern Baptist, he was retired after 31 years service from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, where he served with distinction as Captain of both the Cookeville District and the Nashville District, as well as four years as the LPD Chief.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Partlow Funeral Chapel and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at Lebanon FBC.
Services will be conducted by Brother Don McElroy with burial at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years Dot Dodson; sons Derek Dodson, Darren Dodson, and Damon (Rachal) Dodson; grandchildren Caroline, Jack and Denton Dodson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dodson is preceded in death by sister Emogene Clark
Active pallbearers will be: Tennessee Highway Patrol. Honorary pallbearers: Lebanon Police Department, Wilson County Sheriff’s Department, special fishing friends and the Elaine’s Restaurant group. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice.
Partlow Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
