SHOP SPRINGS -- A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, February 26 at the Shop Springs Baptist Church for Mr. Bryan, 90, of the Shop Springs Community.
A veteran of the US Navy, having served aboard the USS Yorktown during World War II, Mr. Bryan died Feb. 24, 2009 at his residence.
A deacon at the Shop Springs Baptist Church, he was retired after nearly 40 years of employment with AVCO. The son of the late James Hugh Bryan, Sr. and Annie Laurie Donnell Bryan, he was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown and Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Kenneth Trammel and Rev. Carl Goad.
Survivors include: his wife of 66 years Dorothy White Bryan and children Lynda Ann Sparkman and John Nelson (Sandi) Bryan, Jr. -- all of Shop Springs.
Also surviving are grandchildren Chip (Tracie) Sparkman, Trey Bryan, Laurie Morris, Carla (Jeff) Greenblatt, Doralyn (Dustin) Liddell and Tenesha Blanco; great grandchildren Irlyn, Jake, Rissa and Bryanna Morris, Samantha and Sarah Greenblatt, Hailey and Dylan Speck, Cooper Sparkman, Tyler Bryan and Blake Blanco.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bryan is preceded in death by sister Mary Nelle Hahn and brother James Hugh Bryan, Jr.
Active pallbearers: Milton Bailey, Carl Price, George James, Jimmy Carter Martin, T.A. Bryan, Robert Bryan. John Forrest Bryan, Jim Bryan and Bobby Fisher.
Honorary: deacons of Shop Springs Baptist Church, Dr. Joe Bryant and Dr. Brian Hughey.
Hunter Funeral Home, Watertown, was in charge of arrangements.
