LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, August 12 at the Immanuel Baptist Church for Mrs. Swack, 52, of Lebanon. An assistant physical therapist, Mrs. Swack died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at her home following a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
She was an employee of Willowbrook Home Health and a longtime member of the Immanuel Baptist Church where she participated in the Appalachian Mission Group. She was a graduate of Volunteer State Community College.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor John Hunn and Carl Jones. Interment services followed at the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Deron Henry officiating.
Survivors include: her husband of 37 years Jerry Wayne Swack, daughters Stephanie M. (Frank) Ruckman and Stacey M. (John A.) Trail -- all of Lebanon and mother Bessie Byrd Howell of Mt. Juliet. Also surviving are brothers Richard Howell of North Carolina, David (Pat) Howell of Mt. Juliet, Ken (Johnnie) Howell of Old Hickory; in-laws Haskel and Willa Swack of Lebanon; sister-in-law Tammy (Rickey) Peppers of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren Makayla and Carley Ruckman and Dathan Swack and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends served as active pallbearers. The Carl Jones Sunday School Class of Immanuel Baptist Church, co-workers at Willowbrook Home Health, as well as Gilda’s Club served as honorary pallbearers. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel A. Howell in 1992.
At the request of Karen and family, memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club, 1707 Division Street, Nashville 37203. Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
